Firstly, thank you for entering the first Pitcher & Le Quesne Open this weekend, proudly hosted by the Sun Bowls Club. I am delighted to tell you that we have our maximum 20 teams and we cannot thank you enough for this.
We know the rules are quite different, and as such we doing a “Live Draw” on Friday night where it will be determined who you are in a group with, 7.30pm at the Sun Bowls Club where the rules will be explained in full and you have a chance to ask any questions that might be bugging you. It might seem a lot on paper, but effectively you have 4 games consisting of 2 sets of 5 ends playing pairs with a couple of extra oddities to mix it up a bit! You are welcome to come down and watch the draw – it will also be broadcast live on the Sun Bowls Club Facebook page.
If you wish, there are also rinks available to practice on Friday night from 6pm where you can enjoy a drink and a roll should you fancy.
If you can’t come Friday, don’t panic. Play commences at 10am on Saturday morning, please be there no later than 9.45am. There are 4 sessions on Saturday followed by the BBQ that is included in your teams entry fee which we hope you will be able to stay for – we’ve catered for you all and have planned to cook up a small feast. Tables will be available outside and in the clubroom so there is plenty of place to spread out.
Those of you wishing to enjoy a few drinks are welcome to leave your cars in the club park overnight on Saturday for collection on Sunday.
Sunday AM, the last group game will be played at 10am, and after that the top 2 from each group (4 groups of 5) will proceed to the Quarter Finals / Semi Finals and Finals to be crowned the eventual winner. There will be a 3 & 4th place play off as well.
In terms of catering, sandwiches are available at lunchtime on both Saturday and Sunday from the kitchen (please pre-order in the morning) as well as bacon rolls throughout the day on both days. The BBQ is Saturday evening, approximately 4.30/5pm after the last group game and the chefs have been able to work their magic!
